Dear fellow songbirds:
We are confirmed as booked for our term-ending concert at LaidLaw Memorial United Church, 155 Ottawa Street North (at Cannon) at 7PM on Saturday December 10. We meet at 6pm, doors open at 6:30pm, and the show starts at 7pm. Dress rehearsal will also be at Laidlaw on Wednesday December 7th from 6:30 to 9:30.
Even though your sweet singing is the big draw, we’ll need volunteers to help make this concert successful. This event not only contributes to the cultural richness of your city but is also an important source of fundraising for the choir. We hope to set up a refreshments/bake sale table, pre-sell concert tickets, produce some posters, and man the doors with charming people to help seat bewildered attendees. It would be especially good if a person could come forth to take charge and direct a volunteer team. Let the admin desk know at this Saturday’s rehearsal what contribution you can make (or contribution your near and dear could make). Step up, stick your neck out, and dare to be counted!
We are also currently operating with a board of directors smaller than required by our bylaws. Though these positions are usually filled by active members at our spring annual general meeting, the bylaws do permit these positions to be filled by appointment on an interim basis. We currently have 4 board seats vacant. Board members meet once monthly for a chaired Zoom meeting and, depending on individual roles, contribute anywhere from an hour to several hours per month. Again, let the admin desk know if you’re interested or send and email to hamiltonsings@gmail.com
The Bill Nesbitt Newfoundland cookie sale is still barely active with a mere 6 boxes remaining available. So snap those babies up before the inevitable happens – totally sold out! They are a brilliant gift to bring to your hosts, freeze well, and are sooo satisfying to the Cookie Monster living at your place. We expect this is the last time you’ll have to read the snippet below:
Each box will contain 13 assorted pieces. The recipes are traditional favourites from Newfoundland:
- Lassy Mogs -soft, spicy gingerbread cookies with dates and nuts
- Date Crumbles – rich, buttery Newfoundland date squares
- Five Star Bars- chewy coconut bars topped in chocolate
- Nut Sandies- buttery shortbread snowballs with pecan pieces
They are nicely packaged and make a lovely gift if you have the will power not to eat them yourself! ( and they freeze well ) The original artwork label will feature a Newfoundland holiday scene.
Still just $20 a box, and all proceeds go to Hamilton Sings! Community Choir.
We are taking orders until November 26th or until 40 boxes have sold, which ever comes first. Orders will be available for pick-up at the December 3rd rehearsal.
Place your order by sending an e-transfer to treasurer.hamiltonsings@gmail.com (include your name, e-mail address and the word “cookies” in the message) Cash or cheque orders can be made in person with Bill at choir rehearsals
See y’all Saturday
