Good Day All!
Now that you’re all rested up, you’ll have the surplus energy to give it your all at our first Choral Connection of the second half of our winter term tomorrow at 10 am. Bill Nesbitt will continue his Newfoundland kitchen party series and lead us through the logging camp tune Double Sledder Lad. In the interests of spontaneity, Hanna is keeping her musical cards close to her chest but hang onto your hats as we sing with her in Korea, Denmark, Scotland, and elsewhere. Sue’s got her own valise full of music planned, including continuing with Edward Lear’s Nonsense Alphabet, introducing us to Beidh Aonach Amarach (say that three times without choking, double dare ya), and re-visiting some proven favourites from terms past.
The HS board is currently seeking candidates for the positions of Music Co-Director. Though we have already initiated the process and the hiring committee will commence interviews shortly, it occurred to us that we’ve needlessly kept you in the dark on this matter. Attached you will find the original “want ad” we circulated on line and posted on our web site. If you know of any desirable candidates, please feel free to forward this information to them, as we may choose to commence a second round in the search process if need be.
We’ve just learned happily that we’ve been given permission to use Solstice Carol for our exciting virtual recording project with our favourite producer Kirk Starkey. Many thanks to Hanna for getting the ball rolling. Sue is working on the details about “how” now and will forward instructions soon. Mark your calendars – recordings are due no later than May 7th, with a planned release date of May 21st. With the limitations imposed on choirs globally, it comes as no surprise that many choirs have gotten together on similar virtual projects. Professional production quality of these projects vary widely and are limited by available funds – check out a very slick one at the link below.
And funds we need indeed. If you have not done so yet, please forward payment for the second half of this term to treasurer.hamiltonsings@gmail.com. We’re looking for $75 or PWYC and won’t say no if you are able to contribute more. Additionally, the virtual nature of our engagement with no planned concert means that we are able to accept new membership at pretty much anytime. So, invite your kin/neighbours/buddies/colleagues to join our ranks. Increased opportunity to expand our community is a very good thing. Let’s spread the joy and sing along while doing so.
Elbow bumps,
Brenda Atkinson
